Hi, I want to continue to run a version of the ADST snapshot tool that does not expire. The AD snapshot tool (Rapid client v5.4.8) is what we are using.
The Security Compliance Toolkit (SCT) is a set of tools that allows enterprise security administrators to download, analyze, test, edit, and store Microsoft-recommended security configuration baselines for Windows and other Microsoft products. The SCT enables administrators to effectively manage their enterprise’s Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
We are installing some W2K8 R2 Domain controllers for the migration to W2K8 R2. I want to keep using the ADST tool v5.4.8 until we complete the migration. What am I trying to accomplish you asked. I want to run the ADST snapshot tool for the AD health testing and reporting. This is very important for us to know what AD problems are occurring and what is the root cause.
Also the reporting is necessary to document our AD Domain, Forest, DCs, etc, for reference and quick access to the data. While the ADST and the tools you got with your ADRAP will technically continue to run and won't expire, you are not allowed to run them after a year of your ADRAP has passed.
You received a license for these tools when you purchased the ADRAP and that license covers one year usage of the tools. Using it longer than that violates the license. At least that's what I've heard last. When you're in doubt or you need to extend the license, talk to your TAM or the PFE that performed that RAP. They'll know what how to proceed.
They can tell you what the process is and if there's a way to use it longer. Just call them - that's what your TAM is there for:-) Florian The views and opinions expressed in my postings do NOT necessarily correlate with the ones of my friends, family or my employer.
